Viam is seeking a Staff Technical Writer to own the quality and consistency of their developer-facing documentation. The role involves creating and maintaining documentation across various types, collaborating with engineering teams, and improving the documentation toolchain. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and experience in documentation best practices.

Responsibilities

• Write and edit developer documentation
• Maintain documentation standards
• Improve documentation toolchain
• Review code samples
• Contribute to information architecture
• Ensure documentation is current
• Build robots and write programs using Viam

Requirements

• Experience writing documentation for developers
• Technical fluency to work through tutorials and run code
• Experience with docs-as-code workflows (Git, Markdown, static site generators)
• Familiarity with documentation automation tools
• Strong opinions on documentation quality
• Ability to give and receive editorial feedback
• Interest in working with physical hardware
