Job Description

Valo Health is seeking a Senior Director in New York, NY to lead validation and progression of drug targets for obesity, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases using their Opal computational platform. The role requires expertise in skeletal muscle biology and metabolic disease, with cardiac biology experience being a plus. The candidate will lead a team of scientists, deliver validation data, and collaborate with various experts to advance drug discovery programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of biologists
• Generate experimental plans for target validation and drug discovery
• Guide biology team through drug discovery process
• Collaborate with scientists from multiple sites
• Provide thought leadership on skeletal muscle and cardiovascular disease biology

Requirements

• PhD in Biological Sciences or related field with 13+ years of experience
• Expertise in skeletal muscle biology, peripheral energy metabolism, obesity, and/or cardiovascular disease
• Experience leading small molecule drug discovery project teams
• Experience building and leading high-functioning teams
• Track record of impactful scientific contributions
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
• Permanent US work authorization
