Job Description

Valo Health is seeking a Staff Data Scientist to advance drug discovery and development using large real-world healthcare databases. The role involves leading data studies, translating research questions into observational study designs, and collaborating with diverse teams in an innovative startup environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead real world data studies end-to-end
• Translate research questions into observational study designs
• Curation of clinical variables for machine learning models
• Execute trajectory modeling techniques
• Interpret machine learning results into patient profiles
• Work with diverse data modalities using R and Python
• Prioritize and solve complex problems
• Collaborate with drug discovery and clinical development teams
• Champion shared coding standards and participate in code review

Requirements

• MPH, MS or PhD in epidemiology or biostatistics with 3+ years experience
• 3+ years experience with healthcare databases (EHR, claims, registries)
• Experience leading epidemiologic projects end-to-end
• Extensive experience with causal approaches (propensity score, bias adjustment)
• Advanced knowledge in biostatistics and machine learning
• Proficiency in Python and/or R
• Experience working in ambiguous problem spaces
• Strong time management and communication skills
• US work authorization
