Job Description

Appian is seeking a strategic, results-oriented government affairs executive to drive the company's external policy, regulatory, and advocacy agenda. This role will shape legislative and regulatory outcomes at federal and state levels to advance Appian's market position and business objectives.

Responsibilities

• Drive an integrated government relations strategy
• Build and nurture strategic relationships with legislators, regulators, and officials
• Champion Appian's business priorities in the policy arena
• Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments
• Serve as the primary policy advisor to executive leadership
• Build and lead a high-performing government affairs team
• Represent Appian in key industry alliances and policy forums
• Translate Appian's innovation into compelling narratives
• Establish robust monitoring systems to track policy developments
• Create high-impact advocacy materials
• Design and execute strategies to elevate Appian executives
• Oversee government affairs budget and ensure compliance
• Design comprehensive metrics and reporting frameworks

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience in public policy, compliance, or regulatory affairs within the technology sector
• Proven experience leading a government affairs function for a technology firm
• Comprehensive knowledge of government relations and legislative processes
• Experience in both public sector and private sector roles
• Bachelor’s degree (master’s or JD preferred)
• Willingness and ability to travel frequently
