Job Description

Khan Academy is seeking a senior data engineer for a 12-month fixed-term role to implement the creation of a SafeInsights container, ETL processes, and tools. The role involves collaborating with various teams to understand data needs, propose solutions, build and refine tools, and provide documentation and training.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Data Insights Group to understand data product needs.
• Collaborate with the data architect and Data Infrastructure team to understand data sources and tooling.
• Propose tooling and processes to meet project goals.
• Build, test, and refine tools and processes.
• Deliver the SafeInsights container and associated deliverables.
• Provide documentation and training.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering within a production environment.
• Experience with Google infrastructure services (GCS & Big Query).
• Advanced knowledge of Python.
• Strong SQL skills.
• Proficiency with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with Airflow.
• Background in applied math, statistics, or a related field.
• Motivation by Khan Academy's mission.
• Cross-cultural competency skills.
• Knowledge of Go (plus).
• Experience in a data science research capacity (plus).
