Job Description

Toptal is seeking a founding Industrial Designer to own the end-to-end design of a new consumer hardware product, shaping its concept, prototyping, user experience, aesthetics, and manufacturability. This is a zero-to-one design role with the opportunity to define the design language of a new product category.

Responsibilities

• Lead full industrial design process (concept to production)
• Create cohesive product identity and design language
• Collaborate with engineers for functional integration
• Translate engineering constraints into design solutions
• Develop CMF choices
• Build prototypes and iterate
• Prepare design documentation for manufacturing
• Collaborate with OEMs
• Conduct usability studies

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree
• 4–10+ years of hardware product design experience
• Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design work
• Expertise in design tools (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Rhino, Keyshot, Adobe Suite)
• Understanding of manufacturing processes
• Experience with OEMs
• Ability to collaborate with engineers
• Comfort with iteration and ambiguity
• Passion for user-centric products
